Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2016.

This is the time of year when people make their New Year’s resolutions.

And usually by January 10th, those resolutions are all but forgotten.

This begs the question… why do so few people accomplish their goals?

And why do so many people never do anything to make any kind of progress or make things better in their lives?

I think I know the answer.

A limiting belief.

Like… “I don’t think I can do it.”

Or… “I don’t believe in myself.”

And there’s another thing exacerbating the problem.

Integrity.

Well, actually a LACK of integrity.

Now don’t go gettin’ your panties in a bind there, Spanky.
Allow me to pontificate and clarify…

Most people would agree that integrity is doing what you say you’ll do.

Keeping your word.

So they believe that integrity means keeping their promises with regard to other people.

And they’re right.

But… doing what you say you’ll do also applies to promises you make to yourself.

Stuff like…

“I’m tired of being a fat ass couch potato. Monday, Wednesday and Friday I’m gonna go to the gym and move around some heavy iron… then get on the stationary bike and do 15 minutes of high intensity interval training.”

Or… “Come hell or high water, I’m going to write for 33 minutes and 33 seconds every day like Doberman Dan teaches.”

All good things to do, right?

But… what happens if you’re not consistent in doing the things you promised yourself you would do?

For example…

It’s Friday afternoon, you only slept for 4 hours the night before because your spouse had gas and her farting kept you up most of the night.

So you’re tired… and you blow off going to the gym.

Or… you’re hit and miss on your [33:33] writing periods because some mornings you sleep too late.

Look, I’m not gonna sugar coat it, amigo.

This is a problem.

A BIG problem actually.

And I’d bet you dollars to donut that it’s probably the #1 thing that’s been holding you back.

Here’s the big problem:

You don’t treat promises you make with yourself with the same integrity as promises you make with others.

In other words, you lack integrity with yourself.

And THAT really messes with your head.

Because you lack integrity with yourself…

…you lie to yourself…

…you don’t do what you say you’re going to do…

…you break promises you made to yourself…

…and now your subconscious can’t believe ANY new beliefs or goals.

So what happens?

You never progress.

You never accomplish any goals or dreams.

You stagnate.

You wander around… with no direction… going in circles.

You live a life of quiet desperation.

And THAT, my dear friend, will slowly and painfully suck the joy outta your soul.

The good news is this:

You can escape this life of quiet desperation.

And how, pray tell, do you do that?

Simple.

You keep your word.

You build integrity with yourself.

If you say you’re gonna plant your ass in a chair every morning at [6:00] AM and write for 33 minutes and 33 seconds… you DO IT.

No matter what.

Come hell or high water.

‘Cuz your integrity’s on the line.

You keep your word and stick to your plan.

Each time you blow off your [33:33]… or you miss your workout… or you don’t stick to your plan… a tiny fragment of your integrity is lost.

This chips away at your self-image… your own sense of self worth, creating a growing sense of unreliability.

Basically your subconscious doesn’t trust you.

The end result?

You’re scared to do anything… and you don’t try to make something happen because you can’t trust yourself.

So you never get any closer to your goals and dreams.

You’re paralyzed by fear.

Stuck.

Frustrated.

Feeling helpless.

Maybe even depressed.

Not trusting yourself will relegate you to a life of quiet desperation.

Stuck in a rut… FOREVER if you don’t do something about it.

However, that “something” you need to do is simple.

And you can start doing it today.

Right this very second.

How?

You keep your word with others and yourself.

When you agree to do something, you do it. No matter what.
Even if you have to fight like hell to get it done.

And you learn the word “no.”

So you don’t over-commit.

“Cuz if  you know you’re not gonna do something it’s better to say no than agree to it and not complete it.

You see, what we’re trying to do is show your subconscious that you ARE trustworthy.

So you do what you say you’re gonna do… NO MATTER WHAT!

Simple, huh?

But not always easy.

It’s kinda funny…

Everybody wants things to get better but nobody wants to change.

If you’re the same you in 2016 as you were in 2015, this new year won’t be any different than last year.

So make a decision to become the person you need to be to reach your goals and dreams.

And then keep your word… with others and yourself.

It really is that simple.

I wish you a happy new year… and from the bottom of my soul, I sincerely hope you make all your dreams come true in 2016.
