You’re not good enough.
You’re not smart enough.
You’re not good looking enough.
You’re not tall enough.
You’re not talented enough.
You’re the wrong sex.
You’re the wrong color.
You’re from the wrong country/state/city/county/town.
You’re from the wrong side of the tracks.
You’re from the wrong family.
Your ancestors slipped into the gene pool while the lifeguard wasn’t paying attention.
You can’t sing.
You can’t play.
You can’t act.
You can’t write.
You can’t [fill in the blank with ANYTHING you do… or want to do.]
You can’t.
You just can’t.
But yet…
…in the midst of the constant and never-ending onslaught of your own thoughts…
…the ones telling you what you can’t do…
… and the LEGION of others telling you that you can’t…
…it’s there.
A still, small voice whispering “you CAN.”
Stop.
Quiet the chaos of your mind and listen.
It whispers…
“You CAN.”
“Others with much less ability than you have done it.”
“So why NOT you?”
“You CAN.”
And isn’t it funny?
When you really focus in on what that still, small voice is saying…
…it gets amplified.
Amplified to the point that all the other voices saying “you can’t” get pushed FAR into the background…
…then quickly drowned out by the voice saying “YOU CAN.”
Here’s the interesting thing:
You’ve been able all along to drown out the “you can’t” voices.
Simply by focusing your attention and belief on that still, small voice.
The one that’s still saying what it has ALWAYS said…
“You CAN.”
