From what I understand, the whole basis of the Tao is this:
One must be in tune with the in-breathing and out-breathing of the Universal Mind.
Hmmmmmm… if we humans breath in and out… I guess it makes sense that the Universal Mind would, too.
And that, my revered reader, sparked a thought…
If humans breathe in and out… and according to the Tao, the Universal Mind breathes in and out… doesn’t it also make sense that the economy does, too?
After all, what are markets? They’re just groups of people. So why wouldn’t this group of people (the economy) breathe in and out, too?
And right now, it’s most definitely breathing out. With the force of a Category 5 hurricane on steroids. And crystal meth.
And a LOT of people are scared and worried.
But it’s important that you know this:
If you’re balanced… and if you know how to successfully use direct response marketing… your boat will float on a low tide in the EXACT same way as it does on a high tide.
You see, I view what’s happening now as a HUGE blessing. It has forced an awful lot of people (including yours truly) to take a step back and evaluate what’s TRULY important in the brief time we have on this earthly plane of existence.
As a result, there’s one important thang that a LOT of people are finally waking up to realize:
What good is it to have boatloads of money if your inner spiritual life is a desert?
If you have no freedom beyond chasing more and more cash, what kind of life is that? I can’t think of anything shallower and sadder.
Quality of life is MUCH more vital than stacking up mountains of money. And that is what many people have been forced to realize as a result of this global crisis.
For the past couple of years I’ve been doing a deep dive into a variety of ancient texts. The well-known ones like the Bible, the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita… and a bunch of esoteric ones, too. And the overriding theme of ALL of them is this:
We come into this world to learn one lesson:
Yet we’re forced to learn this lesson in a dimension that’s full of fear. In fact, we’re BOMBARDED with it. Almost from the very minute we’re born.
And thanks to the Internet, smartphones and the media, it’s practically impossible to avoid this ceaseless bombardment of fear.
It’s like being told your number one lesson is to learn to swim.
So you show up to the beginners swimming class… you’re weighed down with 10 tons of iron weights… thrown into 100 feet of water… and it’s stocked with ravenous sharks “with frickin’ lasers on their heads.” (I love movie references.)
Yup… learning the numero uno thang we’re on this earth to learn in this environment of fear is NOT easy.
And lately, the fear is worse than ever.
So, if you’re worried about your security right now, consider this:
No amount of money can ever buy you security. There are tons of rich people who are frightened and insecure. (I’ve spoken to a lot of them over the past few weeks.)
The only security available in this current reality comes from self-love. And by realizing the Self within you. That is the security and serenity that money can’t buy.
Regardless of how much wealth you’ve stacked up, if you don’t love and if you’re not loved… you’re bankrupt.
Having said all that, I also realize that there’s some pragmatic stuff to deal with, too. After all, I have two bad habits I need to support… sleeping inside and eating. I bet you have the same two habits. And that, in most cases, requires money.
So if your business or job has been affected by this economic crisis… and you’re worried about the economy, hearken unto me:
Whatever happens, there will always be places in the world where the economy is thriving and opportunities abound.
And if you understand persuasion, copywriting and direct response marketing… you’ll have the ability to profit from those opportunities. While the people who don’t know those things — and allow fear to overtake their minds — will be lined up, hungry and freezing their derrieres off in a soup line.
Listen, in hard times, mediocrity will be taken out at the knees.
But excellence ALWAYS survives.
If you make whatever it is you do special… and put value, effort and love into your work… you’ll not only survive… you’ll prosper.
In tough times, the first ones to be let go will be the mediocre and useless. (Which is about 80% by the way.)
The men and women who have dedicated themselves to mastering a valuable skill will be sought out and rewarded.
And when you perform your high value task with dedication and love, nobody can afford to lay you off. Because you’ve made yourself a highly valuable cog in industry’s wheel.
Finally… recession, depression, inflation, correction, stagnation… these are just terms that describe the “official” economy.
On the other hand, the “unofficial” economy has a mind of its own.
If your mind is attuned to opportunities and you always keep your antennae up in the marketplace, you’ll always find a way of making a buck or two.
You see, nothing stops. It just moves at a more leisurely pace. Or it goes underground.
In addition to the official economy and unofficial economy, there’s also another economy.
And more than 30 years as a serial entrepreneur has taught me this:
Your personal economy is not dependent on the “official” economy. It’s directly created by your thoughts, feelings and actions.
So if your personal economy isn’t what you want it to be, the problem has been that nobody ever told you that YOU were the one who created it. And you can uncreate it and create something new and better by changing your thoughts, feelings and actions.
Listen… if you’re prepared to control your thoughts, feelings and actions… and focus on putting out only good energy… you’ll always thrive in volatile markets.
The power you discover within will be more than enough to keep you and your loved ones with all their needs met and more.
And if things downturn even worse, a lot of good will come from it.
People will be FORCED to pull together. They’ll HAVE to cooperate with each other.
The family unit will be strengthened once more… to how it was in years past.
And the biggest blessing of all? We will all have to learn to love and be tolerant of one another.
And that, my precious protégé, will be a great victory for humankind. Perhaps the greatest.
I believe we’re on the precipice of a great awakening.
A spiritual renaissance.
And I’m personally looking forward to it.
If you get yourself together, control your thoughts, feelings and actions… and don’t lose sight of what’s truly important, you can, too.
All the best,
