I woke up at 4:33 AM this morning.<\/p>\n
Choking and coughing from allergy caused sinus drainage.<\/p>\n
As they say, SSDD.<\/p>\n
Anyhoo, in order to avoid waking up the Colombiana and Chiqui Ricky (my faithful Shih Tzu, raised by a Doberman and who thinks he\u2019s a Doberman) I went into the kitchen to make some hot tea.<\/p>\n
There I was, standing between the stove and the island, waiting for the water to boil.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s when I heard it.<\/p>\n
A rhythm.<\/p>\n
You see, there are two clocks in the kitchen. One is on the counter and the other is on the wall. And I was standing in between them.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s when I noticed it.<\/p>\n
One clock would \u201ctick\u201d and then the other would \u201ctock.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tick… tock… tick… tock… tick… tock.<\/p>\n
Me being a musician, I immediately tried to enter the rhythm.<\/p>\n
I tried counting it out as a steady eighth note rhythm at a tempo of about 72 beats per minute.<\/p>\n
But it didn\u2019t feel quite right. Something was off.<\/p>\n
Then I tried to force<\/em> the two clocks into a steady, march-type, eighth note rhythm… but it didn\u2019t work. Not in the least.<\/p>\n That\u2019s when my internal metronome entered the conversation and straightened things out.<\/p>\n You see, although the two clocks were in perfect sync, it wasn\u2019t an eighth note rhythm at all. It was a triplet rhythm. With a rest on the second beat of the triplet.<\/p>\n Hmmmmmmm<\/em>…. how do I explain this?<\/p>\n Listen, a triplet is played like a waltz in \u00be time, yet it occurs in music that\u2019s in 4\/4 time signature.<\/p>\n Trip-a-let, trip-a-let, trip-a-let, trip-a-let.<\/em><\/p>\n That\u2019s how you\u2019d count\/hear four triplets in a bar of 4\/4 time.<\/p>\n My two clocks were synced doing triplets with what we musicians call a \u201crest\u201d (silence) on the two (the \u201ca\u201d) of the triplet.<\/p>\n Like this:<\/p>\n Trip-[rest]-let, trip-[rest]-let, trip-[rest]-let, trip-[rest]-let.<\/em><\/p>\n Once I figured out the rhythm, everything flowed.<\/p>\n I stood there waiting to make my tea… composing symphonies in my head.<\/p>\n And in that all too brief moment, I was in the Presence that makes all things right in the world.<\/p>\n Now… what the heck does that have to do with anything?<\/p>\n As a matter of fact, it has everything<\/em> to do with everything.<\/p>\n But… I\u2019m pretty sure what I\u2019m about to utter is the reason you subscribed to my list…<\/p>\n If you just want to go from Point A (no customers, no sales and no money)… to Point B (getting customers, sales and money)… and you want to do that in the quickest, most efficient, most effective way possible… then… what I just shared with you about my two clocks is the BEST way to do it.<\/p>\n Instead of trying to force your own rhythm onto the universe, discover a rhythm that\u2019s already flowing… and insert yourself into that rhythm.<\/p>\n Here\u2019s how I\u2019ve been doing that for more than a quarter of a century to create enough of an income out of thin air to support my two bad habits… sleeping indoors and eating one or two times a day.<\/p>\n
