One day, a well-known politician met a highly respected elderly master. Being arrogant (as most politicians are) he wanted to show that he was the superior person.<\/p>\n
As their conversation continued, he asked the master, \u201cOld monk, do you know what I think of you and the things you’ve said?\u201d<\/p>\n
The master replied, \u201cWhat you think of me is not my concern. You are entitled to have your own opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n
The politician huffed, \u201cWell I\u2019ll tell you what I think anyway. In my eyes, you are just like a pile of dry shit.\u201d<\/p>\n
The master simply smiled and stayed quiet.<\/p>\n
Seeing that his insult had fallen onto deaf ears, the politician asked, \u201cAnd what do you think of me?\u201d<\/p>\n
The master continued smiling and replied, \u201cIn my eyes, you are just like the Buddha.\u201d<\/p>\n
After hearing this, the politician felt superior. He went home and bragged to his wife about the conversation.<\/p>\n
His wife said to him, \u201cYou conceited fool! When a person has a heart like a pile of dry shit, he sees everyone in that light. The elderly master has a heart like the Buddha. That is why in his eyes everyone, including you, is like the Buddha.\u201d<\/p>\n
