A wandering sadhu (holy man) was asked what he does for a living.<\/p>\n
He replied, \u201cI\u2019m a farmer.\u201d<\/p>\n
The questioner looked surprised, so the sadhu added, \u201cThis body of mine is my field. I sow good thoughts and actions… and in my body I reap the results.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Buddha explains it like this:<\/p>\n
\u201cAll that we are is the result of what we have thought: it is founded on our thoughts; it is made of our thoughts.\u201d<\/p>\n
What we think, we become. Because as Emerson says, the ancestor of every action is a thought.<\/p>\n
In other words, our thoughts bear fruit in the actions, decisions and desires that shape our lives.<\/p>\n
And yes, that affects EVERYTHING.<\/p>\n
Even our body bears the fruit of what we think because our way of thinking affects our health.<\/p>\n
But in a larger sense, the whole field of human activity is also a worldwide \u201cfield of karma.\u201d Because the entire global environment is shaped by the sum of what us\u2019ns (its inhabitants) do.<\/p>\n
Which is shaped by how we all collectively think.<\/p>\n
And that, my revered reader, is why I say that this worldwide crisis we\u2019re all dealing with will FORCE us all to be farmers.<\/p>\n
Although in reality, we\u2019re already farmers, aren\u2019t we? It\u2019s just that most are not conscious of what they\u2019ve been planting.<\/p>\n
If you\u2019ve NOT been conscious of it, you\u2019ve been planting seeds by default. Even worse, you\u2019ve been allowing OTHERS to plant seeds in your field.<\/p>\n
So if you\u2019re not happy with your current crops, you\u2019ve got no one to blame but yourself. \u2019Cuz you planted and cultivated them, albeit unconsciously.<\/p>\n
Either way, seeds you want or seeds you don\u2019t want, the soil produces results.<\/p>\n
