I was talking with one of my knights in the Marketing
\nCamelot this week, Sir Sean of Mysel.<\/p>\n

He was telling me how much fun he\u2019s having writing his \u201cstory selling\u201d emails.<\/p>\n

He said he just starts banging something out. No deep thought… no worry of writers block… no trying to please people.<\/p>\n

He just has fun and \u201criffs.\u201d<\/p>\n

With no self editing.<\/p>\n

Never once worrying about all the p\u2019s and q\u2019s…<\/p>\n

Or \u201cwill they find this funny?\u201d<\/p>\n

Or… \u201cwill this offend anybody?\u201d<\/p>\n

He just lets it all hang out and writes whatever tickles his fancy.<\/p>\n

Those who \u201cget it\u201d will get it.<\/p>\n

Those who DON\u2019T \u201cget it\u201d won\u2019t get it.<\/p>\n

Those who choose to be offended will be offended. (You DO know nobody can offend you, right? You CHOOSE to be offended.\u00a0Stupid choice, by the way.)<\/p>\n

In other words, Sean stays true to himself.<\/p>\n

Rare thing, that.<\/p>\n

You see, most people are NOT true to themselves.<\/p>\n

We usually only show people one side of our true nature. And those people either like or dislike us depending on which half-truth we choose to reveal.<\/p>\n

Most choose to only reveal the side of themselves they think the other person will like. And I guess you\u2019ve got a 50\/50 chance of getting it right.<\/p>\n

Now with our friends it\u2019s different.<\/p>\n

Well, our TRUE friends that is. (How many people actually have TRUE friends. My bet is infinitesimally few.)<\/p>\n

Anyhoo… we usually show friends our both sides. Or if they\u2019re around us long enough, those both sides eventually come out. Whether we want them to or not.<\/p>\n

The result?<\/p>\n

They have a deeper relationship with us. They have more understanding… more patience… and more appreciation for who we are than the people we only selectively show one side to.<\/p>\n

Now HERE is where it gets interesting…<\/p>\n

With spouses and partners we let it ALL hang out. They see EVERYTHING about us.<\/p>\n

The good, the bad and the ugly.<\/p>\n

The result?<\/p>\n

THEY LOVE US MOST OF ALL!<\/p>\n

Hmmmmm… it sounds like we might be on to something here, doesn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

The more we self edit… the more we\u2019re not true to ourselves… all we\u2019ll ever receive is like and dislike from others.<\/p>\n

However… the more we\u2019re true to ourselves… the more we\u2019re loved.<\/p>\n

And I\u2019d rather be true to myself and loved by one…\u00a0than compromise who I am and liked by thousands or millions.<\/p>\n

Listen… my opinion is biased cuz I created it… but I think the best example of how to do this is The Doberman Dan Letter.<\/p>\n

And this \u201cbe true to yourself\u201d philosophy has attracted the finest \u201csalt of the earth\u201d people from all across the globe…<\/p>\n

The human gems who have chosen knighthood in the Marketing Camelot.<\/p>\n

And I love them.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why I have no choice than to be true to myself and let it all hang out with them.<\/p>\n

Cuz they are the people I want to be with and serve until the last breath leaves this earthly body I inhabit.<\/p>\n

Listen… you\u2019ve been on this list a while.<\/p>\n

And since you haven\u2019t unsubscribed I can only assume you\u2019re getting some kind of value or benefit from all the effort I put into \u201cbleeding on the page\u201d for you every day.<\/p>\n
