Have you ever noticed that this world is always perfectly balanced?<\/p>\n

Yin and yang… protons and electrons… capitalism and Bernie Sanders…<\/p>\n

EVERY force has an opposing force.<\/p>\n

Take my life for example.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been on a roll for about a year now. Darn near everything has been turning up roses.<\/p>\n

So the universe had to bring me back to reality.<\/p>\n

First I found out some copy I sweated BLOOD to create only came in at about 70% of the current control.<\/p>\n

I was able to soothe my bruised ego a bit because it wasn\u2019t 100% my copy. The client changed the entire headline and lead complex midway through the process. So it wasn\u2019t my original lead.<\/p>\n

But still… it bombed.<\/p>\n

That always sucks.<\/p>\n

And it was the impetus that started my mind down the \u201cI suck\u201d path.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s what I always do when things like this happen. (And if you\u2019re getting up to bat as often as possible, it\u00a0happens a LOT.)<\/p>\n

Of course I found plenty of evidence to support the voice in my head telling me I suck as a copywriter, marketer and all around human being.<\/p>\n

Like Ben Settle and all these other guys I know getting invited to speak at events put on by people I know.<\/p>\n

Did they invite me?<\/p>\n

Hell no. Nobody EVER invites me.<\/p>\n

Well… except Dan Kennedy.<\/p>\n

He invited me to be the ONLY co-presenter at his upcoming \u201cMind Hijack Copywriting\u201d event in June. (Next week my knights in the Marketing Camelot<\/a> will be getting a special HIGHLY discounted offer to attend. Which is pretty cool considering the event is sold out to the great unwashed masses.)<\/p>\n

So even though that\u2019s an honor that has only been bestowed upon a HANDFUL of people in Dan Kennedy\u2019s 40+ year career…that damn voice in my head ignores that stuff and continues to look for evidence to support that I suck as a human being.<\/p>\n

Last night it even told me to stop writing these daily emails. Because nobody gives a shit about them… most are probably annoyed by them… and I suck as an email writer, too.<\/p>\n

I gotta tell ya… this is a miserable head space to be in.<\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019re not expecting me to reveal some magical overnight solution.<\/p>\n

Ain\u2019t gonna happen.<\/p>\n

Fifty-one years on this ball of mud and I\u2019ve not discovered a solution.<\/p>\n

Cuz it\u2019s all part of that balance thang. (For the Buzz Killington anal-retentive spelling Nazis… I MEANT to spell it t-h-a-n-g. Cuz that\u2019s how my mom from Water Valley Mississippi always pronounced it.)<\/p>\n

I know that the other voice telling me I\u2019m a bad ass… and reminding me of the MOUNTAIN of challenges I\u2019ve overcome… and all my successes… will be back soon.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the universe keeping the balance.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, I just continue to bang on this keyboard.<\/p>\n

Day in and day out.<\/p>\n

Even when I don\u2019t feel like it.<\/p>\n

Even when I think I suck and every single cell in my entire body is SCREAMING at me to quit.<\/p>\n

THAT is my solution.<\/p>\n

Certainly not an elegant one.<\/p>\n

And definitely not a sexy new age psycho-babble one that makes you feel good.<\/p>\n

But an EFFECTIVE one.<\/p>\n

Cuz it always makes good things happen.<\/p>\n

OK, I\u2019m done.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m going to go read what I just wrote and I\u2019m sure it will confirm (in MY mind at least) that the voice in my head is right. I DO suck.<\/p>\n

Then I\u2019m going to send it out anyway.<\/p>\n

Cuz that\u2019s my plan and I\u2019m stickin\u2019 to it.<\/p>\n

I think that\u2019s your lesson for the day.<\/p>\n

Actually… it\u2019s the lesson for your LIFE.<\/p>\n
