On the way to the beach Saturday, the Colombiana and I stopped at Bob Evans.<\/p>\n

I like Bob Evans.<\/p>\n

It reminds me of my Ohio roots, I get to eat stuff I shouldn\u2019t (biscuits and gravy) and I always learn something from the conversations I eavesdrop on.<\/p>\n

Plus, it\u2019s probably the ONLY place I can go where I\u2019m the youngest guy in the room.<\/p>\n

While I was sipping my coffee…<\/p>\n

…the waitress always looks at me like I\u2019ve got three heads when I ask for coffee with a side of butter…<\/p>\n

…a sad looking man in his late 50\u2019s sat down at the table in front of us with a woman I assumed to be his wife.<\/p>\n

(For some reason he reminded me of my father.)<\/p>\n

I immediately had a gut feeling about this dude from the very second I laid eyes on him.<\/p>\n

He was a failure.<\/p>\n

And bitter about it.<\/p>\n

And he blamed his failure on everyone but himself.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the following conversation I heard while he was discussing his family with his wife:<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re good people but they\u2019re not good people.\u201d<\/p>\n

My gut feeling was confirmed.<\/p>\n

He continued…<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I mean is, they\u2019re more concerned with themselves than others.\u201d<\/p>\n

Well no shit, Sherlock.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s Human Nature 101.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s no wonder the dude\u2019s a bitter failure. How could he possibly be successful operating with the\u00a0belief system that other people should be more concerned\u00a0about him than themselves.<\/p>\n
