Remember the old Candid Camera show?<\/p>\n

I remember one episode when Allen Funt stood on a street corner telling people that he hated twenty dollars bills. And he hated them so badly, he was willing to trade a twenty dollars bill for a five-dollar bill.<\/p>\n

Yup, you heard me right. He offered to sell a $20 bill for five dollars to anybody who wanted to do the deal.<\/p>\n

Guess how many people took him up on it.<\/p>\n

Nobody.<\/p>\n

Not one single person would do the deal.<\/p>\n

Now, let\u2019s look at the track record of a highly successful military recruiter.<\/p>\n

Who in their right mind would sign up for THAT deal?<\/p>\n

You see, unlike Alan Funt in that Candid Camera episode, a skilled military recruiter has an essential ingredient when it comes to persuasion.<\/p>\n

And what, pray tell, is it?<\/p>\n

Rapport.<\/p>\n

Develop rapport and you can convince anyone to do anything.<\/p>\n

Without it, you can do nothing.<\/p>\n
