{"id":11906,"date":"2015-10-08T08:29:19","date_gmt":"2015-10-08T13:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dobermandan.com\/blog\/?p=11906"},"modified":"2021-01-23T18:39:22","modified_gmt":"2021-01-23T17:39:22","slug":"bodybuilding-and-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dobermandan.com\/blog\/bodybuilding-and-business\/","title":{"rendered":"The Secret of Bodybuilding Success Is The Secret To Business Success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was a short and skinny kid.<\/p>\n<p>I got picked on&#8230; a lot.<\/p>\n<p>(Ya ever notice that bullies never pick on the strong, mesomorphic dude. They always pick on the weak.)<\/p>\n<p>But at age 15, after another one of my numerous fights, I decided that it was the last time I was gonna get my ass kicked.<\/p>\n<p>So I bought a weight set and started pumping iron. A practice that still continues to this day.<\/p>\n<p>After I made a little progress I joined a real hardcore gym in Akron, Ohio. It took me 90 minutes one-way and three different bus changes to get there.<\/p>\n<p>Three hours round trip to go to that gym 4 days a week.<\/p>\n<p>Even more amazingly, I kept up that discipline 3 to 4 times a week&#8230; for years. 12 years to be exact&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>WITH NO GAINS!<\/p>\n<p>Yup. No matter how hard or how frequent I trained I made little to no noticeable gains&#8230; but I NEVER quit.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>Hope mostly.<\/p>\n<p>Mere hope.<\/p>\n<p>The hope that by continuing to fail with various training routines and diets, I would eventually eliminate all the stuff that didn\u2019t work and stumble onto the stuff that DID work.<\/p>\n<p>And after 12 years of busting my ass being the most self-disciplined person I knew, that\u2019s exactly what happened.<\/p>\n<p>BTW, what DID eventually work was 180 degrees contrarian to what EVERYBODY recommended. And all the \u201cexperts\u201d told me it would never work.<\/p>\n<p>Eight weeks later I was 22 pounds heavier. Sure there was a little \u201cbulk\u201d in there&#8230; but a majority of that was muscle.<\/p>\n<p>The change was rapid and dramatic.<\/p>\n<p>And EVERYBODY noticed.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d love to tell you it was \u201cand he lived happily ever after\u201d after discovering \u201cthe secret.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But that wasn&#8217;t the case.<\/p>\n<p>That secret eventually stopped working. And it was <em>another<\/em> 10 years of straight failure until, by process of elimination (and MUCH mental anguish), I discovered the <em>next<\/em> secret that allowed me to gain again.<\/p>\n<p>And this process of MANY years of failure followed by small breakthroughs still continues today&#8230; 40+ years later.<\/p>\n<p>But I NEVER slacked off even while I was going through 10 years of zero gains.<\/p>\n<p>Quite the opposite. I worked so damn hard I\u2019d often burst the blood vessels in my eyes. (Working too hard was actually part of the problem&#8230; but that\u2019s a lesson for a different time.)<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s all of this have to do with starting and building a direct response online business?<\/p>\n<p>All of my entrepreneurial ventures have been exactly like my bodybuilding experience.<\/p>\n<p>Every. Single. One.<\/p>\n<p>Actually worse&#8230; but I don\u2019t want to scare you&#8230; so I\u2019ll only disclose THAT stuff when you\u2019re truly ready to hear it.<\/p>\n<p>If becoming financially independent with a \u201clifestyle business\u201d were easy everybody would do it.<\/p>\n<p>But it ain\u2019t easy.<\/p>\n<p>And the only ones I see succeeding are the ones with the same attitude I had about bodybuilding.<\/p>\n<p>Look, one of my most important purposes in your life is to tell you the truth.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, I\u2019m also supposed to be an encourager&#8230; but I refuse to do that at the expense of the truth.<\/p>\n<p>I may not disclose everything initially (I will when you\u2019re ready for it) but I sure as hell ain\u2019t gonna lie to you.<\/p>\n<p>This entrepreneurial thang ain\u2019t easy.
