They&#8217;re still stumbling around in the dark with a plethora of unread PDFs, MP3s and videos on their hard drives from the IM gurus who suckered them into buying their &#8220;BSO&#8221; (bright shiny object) &#8220;Magic Online Money Button&#8221; products. They wouldn&#8217;t know the basics of marketing if it smacked them between the eyes with a baseball bat.<\/p>\n<p>They always ask me to show them the &#8220;dark side&#8221; of marketing and copywriting&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.on2url.com\/app\/adtrack.asp?MerchantID=162759&amp;AdID=664429\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the magical mental manipulation tricks and all the &#8220;hidden in the dark&#8221; ninja stuff that can bring in a flood of cash faster than you&#8217;ve ever imagined<\/span>. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>And it CAN do that&#8230; while leaving scores of devastated people in your wake, eventually destroying your soul&#8230; and leaving karma to deal with you in a manner at least 10x&#8217;s harsher than your victims suffered.<\/p>\n<p>There is a whole slew of people selling online taking the low road. To be totally transparent, I struggle almost daily against a secret overwhelming temptation to smack them between the eyes with a 45 lb. Olympic plate just to see if it may possibly knock some sense into their thick craniums.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Two things that have allowed me to avoid this overwhelming temptation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I have spent DECADES training my Frontal Lobe to override the base desires of my amygdala, the part of the brain that doesn&#8217;t reason&#8230; it just reacts. (It was not always like this and my amygdala has gotten me into a LOT of trouble&#8230; mainly on the police department.) You see, I didn&#8217;t have the advantage of being physically intimidating so my M.O. was this:<em>You are going to jail. There are no other options. Now let me ask you a CRITICALLY important question that could directly affect your health and\/or survivability: Is there anything I can say or do that will make you willingly allow to me put these handcuffs on you and take you to jail. Speak now or forever hold your peace.<\/em>When the answer was &#8220;no&#8221;, the use of force was initiated immediately and I did not start at &#8220;level 1&#8221;, wresting around like they do on TV. That&#8217;s a great way to get overpowered, and get shot with your own firearm. I only needed to learn THAT lesson once.I bypassed steps 1 through five and immediately went to nightsticks, Asps (I think you should get one of those), metal flashlights, shotgun butts, lamps or anything I could grab&#8230; all applied with great force about the face, head and neck area of the suspect. If that wasn&#8217;t sufficient, I immediately escalated to #10 on the scale of 1 to 10 and went directly to deadly force.Sadly, if I would have learned earlier to over come &#8220;amygdala hijack&#8221; and engage the Frontal Lobe and the accompanying communications skills that can immediately take <em>others<\/em> out of &#8220;amygdala hijack&#8221;, I would have done a LOT less &#8220;use of force&#8221; reports&#8230; and several people would still be walking this earth, and others not physically disabled for the rest of their lives.But that is the cross I will bear for the rest of my life.Anyhoo, one of the most life-changing books I have read about how to defeat &#8220;amygdala hijack&#8221; and let your logical and rational Frontal Lobe guide you in &#8220;fight or flight&#8221; situations (this includes DAILY situations in the life of an entrepreneur) is a book entitled, <em>&#8220;Just Listen:\u00a0Discover the Secret to Getting Through to Absolutely Anyone.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width: 120px; height: 240px;\" src=\"http:\/\/rcm-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/cm?t=dobermandan-20&amp;o=1&amp;p=8&amp;l=as1&amp;asins=0814414036&amp;ref=tf_til&amp;fc1=000000&amp;IS2=1&amp;lt1=_blank&amp;m=amazon&amp;lc1=0000FF&amp;bc1=000000&amp;bg1=FFFFFF&amp;f=ifr\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>Of the THOUSANDS of books I have read, this literally ranks up in the top 5 most important and life-changing. I HIGHLY recommend it.<\/li>\n<li>The second reason I fight the urge to whack clueless people upside the head with a 45 lb. plate is my fear of enclosed places&#8230; namely an 8&#8217;x8&#8242; cell with a roommate named Bubba or Bruiser or something like that. (Which, interestingly enough, is the topic of the February 2014<em> Doberman Dan Letter<\/em>&#8230; and how you can use these same dark secrets to make millions&#8230; in practically no time at all.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In spite of saying I would only share the &#8220;dark arts&#8221; of marketing copywriting and persuasion with a <em>handful<\/em> of people, I cracked the door open the January 2014 issue of <em>The Doberman Dan Letter<\/em>, the print publication my Knights of The Round Table in my Marketing Camelot get in the mail every month.<\/p>\n<p>Even though I didn&#8217;t intend this to happen, the January 2014 issue was like letting your camel stick just his nose under the tent. Some of the sharpest marketers and entrepreneurs in the world are knights of our Round Table.<\/p>\n<p>We virtuous victors of various ventures and vocations would never succumb to such insatiable covetousness, greed, treachery, deceitfulness, perpetual pilfering, lust and&#8230; well, let\u2019s not mince words&#8230; interminable iniquity. (That\u2019s just a fancy \u201cKings James\u201d alliteration way of saying \u201csin.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>Of course not.
