Outside The Box Copywriting Gigs
Wednesday, 4:10 PM
Dear Friend,
Here's some really good advice from a young up and coming copywriter.
There are PLENTY of copywriting gigs available if you think outside the box of the typical online stuff.
Did you like this blog post? If so, could you click the Facebook Like button below:

Amen to that Dan (and Colin).
Most of my clients don't really need the ultra-hard-hitting marketing copy for their projects either (and yes, they get great results too). So I'm with you guys.
thanks for that refreshingly pure and feel-good easy point Colin. i like low-key writing and that can't be done or hardly ever is in the internet marketing community. In fact, in IM everyone wants something free and it has to be oversold-now that's a menacing cocktail…
Awesome guys,
Another thing too….
Clients seem to think you can only write "hype" when that's all they see you doing.
It turns a lot of "conventional" businesses off.
Mind you, I would go nuts writing copy in "uptight" markets.
But the incredible amount of work and opportunity out there never ceases to amaze me.
Although I got to say, "I love hype!" as long as it's supported by proof.
I guess, that depends on your definition of "hype"?
Excellent point, Colin. Over on my blog I have been encouraging writers to look around their hometown for writing gigs instead of spending all their time chasing leads on the internet. I have been building relationships with local businesses and it is true that most of them are looking for a more low key approach. They want the words that sell, but they don't want the hard sell.
Who knew Colin … You have restored my faith in humanity!
Dan, thanks for posting this. It was fun seeing you in San Francisco.
@Joseph – Glad to hear. What kind of markets do you write for?
@Courtney – I like hype too, when it's used in the right markets. Like the get rich market, I find myself falling for those sales letters still, if they're done right. John Carlton wrote an amazing blog post recently… to quote, "one man's hype may be another's salvation".
I think where I"m coming from are the desperately in pain markets… where they need a softer, more empathetic approach. There are actually several Gary Halbert ads that are plain, straight-forward and empathetic. Just the facts stated in an emotional way.
@ Bart – Yeah.
The IM market. Can't live with them, can't live without them.
@ Tammi – Absolutely. And it's not just the local businesses… there are many, many, many online businesses who are not selling get-rich info-products, who need copy that sells without shouting.
Some really good points there Dan, I would like to find out a bit more about what this guy is doing and the kind of money that you can make in this field.
