How to get some of the most valuable "real world" market research... right in your own back yard.

Friday, 1:41 PM

I went to Walmart last night.

I was there between about 10:45 PM and midnight.

I went totally incognito… in my "civvies" (as we used to say on the P.D.)

My whole "Doberman Dan" super hero outfit with "DD" on the cape… and copywriter super hero utility belt, containing yellow notepads, 3×5 cards, disposable blue pens and a dog-eared copy of Breakthrough Advertising… was all left at home in the closet.

I walked amongst the mere mortals of Walmart as if I was one of them.

I was a chameleon…. blended right in. Nobody even looked twice at me.

Well, the checkout lady flirted with me a little bit.

I have to admit… I started it.

She looked pretty unhappy and I wanted to see if I could get a smile from her.

So I looked deeply in her eyes, thought of all the good things about her that were immediately noticeable to me… and repeated three secret but ENORMOUSLY powerful words over and over in my head, infusing them with all the emotion and feeling I could humanly muster.

Then I chatted her up, asking what would appear to any untrained outsider as a couple innocent questions.

Even though my "target" was completely clueless…

I was surreptitiously using a little-known
and almost IRRESISTIBLE power on her!

That's just ONE of my many persuasion secrets I'll soon reveal at my upcoming "Seminar IN The Sea" I mentioned recently to my Doberman Dan Letter subscribers.

(Yeah… a seminar actually IN the sea… up to our necks in the ocean. You see, the secrets I'm going to finally reveal are SO powerful… and because I swore an oath to never allow them to fall into enemy hands… I need to make sure nobody is wearing a "wire." Hence the seminar IN the sea.)

The cashier reacted exactly as I expected.

In spite of my wedding band, I thought she was actually going to ask for my phone number.

Thank GOD the Colombiana was off looking at kids clothes and wasn't in line with me. (Have you ever seen a jealous Colombian woman? Scary stuff. Your life is TRULY in jeopardy.)

We'll come back to Walmart a little later.

For now, let me tell you a little story:

There once lived a boy in the town of Barberton, Ohio who at a very young age showed an unusual talent for music.

In fact, as early as age 7, he knew his life-long dream.

More than anything in the world he wanted to be a professional guitarist.

But he made a common mistake many people make as soon as they figure out their dream or goal…

He announced his dream to the people
he expected would support and help him!

BIG mistake.

Instead of recognizing a talent that should have been encouraged, trained and developed, the people he most expected to support him conspired against him and did whatever it took to destroy that young boy's dream and crush his spirit.

And since these evil dream stealers were those closest to him… his parents, grandparents, siblings, friends and teachers…

…And since he was yet too young to understand how to set and achieve goals…

…And too young to know that to actually make a dream come true you have to fight for it with every ounce of strength you have…

… And didn't understand that small-minded people too cowardly to develop and fight for their OWN dreams, instead choose to tear down others' dreams…

… This poor kid allowed their well-planned assault against him crush his young spirit.

But there was something unusual inside him. Something that could NEVER let his dream die no matter how much opposition he faced.

So instead, he put his fragile and badly injured dream on life support and hid it in "dream intensive care" for 40 years. He let the dream stealers THINK they successfully killed his dream just to get them off his back… but he kept it alive all this time.

Now that was a VERY unusual reaction because, like all his peers, his indoctrination into servitude started almost immediately after birth.

And at age 5 his parents willingly relinquished their responsibility of raising him to the State so he could complete the mandatory 13 years in a government sponsored youth indoctrination camp.

His parents didn't know any better. That's what everybody else in their socio-economic class did… so it must be the correct thing to do… right?

Besides, the State threatened to throw them in jail if they refused to hand their children over. It seemed completely normal to them to give up their children to the State.

So in spite of decades of indoctrination into his pre-planned life of servitude… and YEARS of concentrated effort under constant duress to teach him to NOT think rationally and only obey orders… this young boy secretly knew the entire system was complete bullshit.

But since their influence was so strong and they controlled the purse strings, he had not yet figured out how to break free from this system of servitude.

After his release from the government sponsored youth indoctrination camp, instead of doing what he REALLY wanted to do and pursuing his life-long dream of being a professional guitarist, he did exactly what "they" told him to do.

He got a "good job" so he could have 50 to 60% of his life values stolen from him, automatically taken out of his paycheck… and lived like the rest of the sheep… barely able to pay the bills with what was left over after the slave-masters stole half his life values.

After just a few years years of this life, this young man decided he was going to get himself free of this miserable life of servitude… or die trying.

After nine long years of struggle and constant failure… and indescribably painful betrayal by those closest to him…

He finally gained that freedom!

He didn't gain his freedom with his original dream, but he was free nonetheless.

And the last 14 years of freedom have trained him to think differently than the sheep.

Now unlike many other pompous and delusional copywriters, consultants, marketers and gurus, he has never believed his own publicity.

He knows he's just a simple guy from Barberton, Ohio who was somehow able to see past the carefully orchestrated and manipulated matrix of lies and deception that have been used for eons to keep the majority in servitude.

And last night at Walmart, moving about incognito in my civvies, this humble former-Barbertonian had a few epiphanies I think will help you in your marketing.

First of all, the most obvious thing I noticed was approximately 75% of the Walmart shoppers were overweight.

And 50% of those were morbidly obese.

Looking in their shopping carts revealed the reason. These poor folks are poisoning themselves with chemicals and processed foods that are as addictive as morphine.

Heck, even foods that USED to be healthy are now secretly laced with addictive chemicals that cause obesity, heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

Here's a phrase we copywriters love to use:

"It's Not Your Fault!"

It takes the prospect off the hook and makes them feel better about their failure and poor choices. It's used all the time in weight loss ads.

The thing is… in this case it really is mostly true.

1. They honestly don't know any better. In fact, they THINK they're eating healthy food because the USDA and other "experts" have told them this is the healthy way to eat. (BTW, all the "experts" and alphabet agencies who promote this type of diet are heavily lobbied – which is just a nice sounding way of saying "bribed" – by big Pharma.)

2. Even if the food was healthy in its natural state, it has now been processed to death, all the formerly healthy stuff totally extracted… and loaded up with addictive chemicals that cause a host of diseases and health issues…

3. And finally, since most of these good people are forced to try and stretch a $20 bill to pay for what is now $100 worth of groceries, they're forced to buy the lower-priced food. And THAT is the processed food loaded with these disease-causing chemicals that are the biggest culprit in causing this health crisis. The actual honest-to-goodness healthy food is simply out of the budget of the average family. They have to choose quantity over quality.

(There's a reason for that. In a nutshell, when you hand control of a country's currency over to a group of private bankers… and give them free reign to print as much of it as they want, you destroy the middle class. They don't understand why it's harder and harder for them to get by each year. They just know that to survive, they now have to buy the cheapest food at Walmart… which is slowly killing them.)

So there I was… pushing my cart around as an "undercover marketer"…

…Observing what people were buying…

…Listening in on conversations (and in several cases, arguments) about how their extremely limited and unbeknownst to them, continually shrinking budget should be spent…

…I took notice of what the overweight people had in their carts…

…I took note of what the grossly obese people had in their carts. (HINT: They're consuming an inordinate amount of HFCS and don't even know it. Soda or "pop" as we called it as kids in Ohio is the biggest cause of obesity and diabetes.)

…I watched as people had to pick and choose what they could and couldn't afford. And I'm not talking about extra luxury or "treat" items. I'm talking about staples like chicken, eggs, fish, etc.

And a feeling welled up in my gut I tried to choke back… and my eyeballs started to "sweat." (A guy who worked for 12 years as an inner city cop doesn't cry. My eyeballs DO occasionally sweat… or I get "allergies.")

You see, I'm mad as hell about why this is happening to millions of good hard working people.

99.99% of the good people in this country don't understand it… but it's an insidiously evil and carefully orchestrated plan that has been implemented gradually over the past 100 years or so.

The gradual long term implementation was the evil genius part of the plan.

A rapid implementation would have caused an armed revolution… but done gradually over decades makes it easier to "boil the frog." It keeps the sheep fat, dumb and happy in their pens so you can continue to frequently shear them.

Pure genius.

Pure evil, too… but you have to admire the forethought and planning by these evil masters.

In the next issue of The Doberman Dan Letter, I'm revealing a plan how you can protect yourself so you don't wind up broke and can keep more of what you make… without all those "non-fun" austerity measures recommended by guys like Dave Ramsey.

But I'm a realist. I know I can only personally reach a very small percentage of people and save them from slowly going broke. And it makes me feel powerless and angry.

So there I was in Walmart… feeling powerless and angry about all these good people suffering like this.

I choked back that weird feeling and eyeball sweat that some people who don't know any better would describe as crying… and started thinking like a marketer, instead of the overly sensitive musician that I REALLY am.

Look, unless you're selling Rolls Royces, Hummers, Rolexes and other expensive toys to the affluent… you need to start hanging out in Walmart. Preferably between the hours of 8:00PM and midnight.

You'll get an understanding for today's consumer market like never before. These are the people you're trying to reach with your website and sales copy. And you better be able to speak their language, understand their challenges and give them a damn good reason why they should buy your product.

Because, in many cases, their dilemma isn't, "Gee, should I buy Acne Treatment System A… or Acne Treatment System B?"

Nope.

The REAL question is, "Gee, should I buy Acne Treatment System A… or the fruit I need to put in my children's lunchboxes this week?"

You need to get away from your stupid time-sucking e-mail, walk away from that damn computer and get to Walmart for some REAL market research.

I don't mean you should stand back with your arms crossed, piously observing all the "sheep" from a distance. You may be out of your office physically but with an attitude like that, you're still in your ivory tower.

Even though many copywriters are introverts and this puts us outside our comfort zone, you need to actually mingle, meet some new people, open your mouth and talk with some of these folks.

These are good, hard working, "salt of the earth" people… who unfortunately have been deceived and are now stuck in the rapidly-disappearing middle class.

Ask them questions about their lives, their jobs, what they're buying, etc.

You may be surprised at the marketing intelligence you pick up.

Do you want a REALLY advanced marketing education?
The kind you won't get from ANY current book or course?

That's easy…

Simply ask them about their hopes and dreams for the future.

You may be shocked.

And then depressed.

999 out of a 1,000 don't have any hopes or dreams…other than maybe getting a large screen LED television this year if they can get their credit card paid down enough to put it on their card.

Many may not be college educated… and a lot haven't even finished high school. But they certainly are NOT stupid. Most are quite savvy and aware of what's happening to their financial situation.

They know things are not getting any better for them. And most will express a very diminished hope for the future.

Hey, I don't mean to be negative or depressing… but my incognito trip to Walmart was quite eye opening.

Our world has changed a LOT in just the past couple years. And a lot of marketers have not kept up with those changes.

You can deny it if you want, recite delusional “money chants” and HOPE for the best… but the economy has changed the way money is moving. And I don’t think it’s ever going back to how it was just a few years ago.

We’re at a precarious time when what works and what doesn’t work has changed dramatically.

Nowadays, you have to be totally in tune and up to date with the changes in buyer motivations and spending habits. If you don’t know how to strategically react to these constant changes…

… In your advertising copy…

… Customer acquisition programs…

… “Reason to buy” presentations…

… And customer retention programs…

… You’re going to lose out on at least HALF of your potential sales and income.

Maybe more.

Or worse, you may not even BE in business next year.

A mere three years ago you probably could have coasted along without keeping up with all these changes and done OK.

Not anymore…

Your Survival
Depends On It!

You need to stay in the loop about what's working most effectively RIGHT NOW.

Based on my recent research (including my undercover Walmart trip), I've been forced to re-evaluate all of my marketing strategies and tactics.

I'm doing a complete 180 with all my personal business projects… and I'm pretty excited about it.

I'll be sharing every single detail about all my new projects in The Doberman Dan Letter.

Trust me on this…

Get away from your computer for a few hours, stop reading the "ivory tower" marketing B.S. from the online marketing gurus and make an undercover trip to Walmart between the hours of 8:00 PM and 12:00AM.

If you really do chat up and interact with the people there, you'll come back with some highly valuable market research… and a much better understanding and empathy for your prospects.

All the best,

P.S. One last tip:

Things work a helluva lot better in your marketing and copy when you understand how the world REALLY works… instead of how you think it SHOULD work.

Dear Friend,

I didn't want to admit it… but it's in my genes.

Everybody on one side of my family was an alcoholic.

And that always scared me because they say addiction/alcoholism is hereditary.

I thought I got lucky and that gene bypassed me… but I was wrong.

Allow me to elaborate:

I've been an entrepreneur for so long now I don't even really understand how the "sheeple" live.

Sometimes when I'm totally absorbed in a new project, working for hours and days almost non-stop, I often ask myself, "I wonder what the 'normal' people are doing right now?"

Seriously.

I just don't get the mindset that says, "It's 5:00 PM. Wo hoo! Quitting time."

I don't get it because…

I NEVER stop working!

I always have my antennae up looking for opportunities. I simply CAN'T shut it off.

I'm constantly thinking about…

… My own businesses…

… New markets and niches…

… New project and product ideas…

… The very small number of carefully hand-selected clients I occasionally work with…

… My Inner Circle members…

… My Marketing Junkies members…

… And more recently, the people who have invested in my Kitchen Table Business program.

For example…

I'm really excited about some new things I'm working on for 2011… so I've been working a lot recently.

More than I care to, actually.

Some days it's been 7:00 AM until 12:00 midnight… with 30 minutes cut out of those 17-hour days for guitar practice… and a few other 30-minute segments for meals, reading, etc.

Like I said, it's a lot more than I usually work… but I'm really excited about what I'm doing.

And quite frankly, I've been a little fatigued lately… and some days in a LOT of pain. (Those old bodybuilding injuries are catching up to me.)

So this weekend was supposed to be my "veg out and do nothing" time.

But I simply can't shut off my mind. I'm constantly thinking of ways to help you make more money and enjoy a better life.

Here's what I've done so far today on my "relax and get away from work" weekend:

Chiqui Rikki (the Shih-tzu) woke me up at 6:30 AM. (Donner the Doberman likes to sleep late, like me… but Chiqui won't let us.)

So at "0-dark:30" AM I had to get out of bed and let Chiqui outside. After that I went back to bed and read a little while.

Guess what I read…

Marketing & Copywriting Stuff!

And that led to an idea about how to generate a big chunk of cash really quickly. So I sat done in front of the machine I said I was going to stay far, far away from this weekend… and started writing copy for my new idea.

The research for this new project idea led me to another idea that could help one of my KTB clients make a LOT of money. So I made a copy of that highly valuable info/swipe file and e-mailed it off to him.

After that I wrote out some hand written letters on monarch stationary (like I described here) to a few business contacts and DD.com customers.

Then it was back to work on my recently inspired copy for this new "big bucks" project.

I did a "brain dump" and quickly wrote out all the hot moneymaking ideas swirling around my head.

As I was extracting the very last "gold nugget"…a breakthrough idea for one of my new Inner Circle members popped into my spongy gray matter.

So I opened another new "brain dump" document and started excitedly tapping away at the keyboard, mining some more marketing gems from my noggin. (Just ONE of these gems is going to make my new Inner Circle member a small fortune.)

All the while, the Colombiana has been waiting for over three hours for me to go Christmas shopping with her… but I simply can NOT stop.

I'm telling ya…

It's An Addiction!

I'm a true marketing junkie.

The Colombiana is used to it… and amazingly tolerant of it MOST of the time. (I guess she enjoys the benefits.)

But I have to be honest with you… I really do need a break from this addiction.

I've even tried using chemical substances to relax and slow down the thoughts and ideas constantly spinning around in my mind. My chemical substance of choice is a tonic known as a "Long Island Ice Tea."

Powerful stuff.

It has been known to knock lesser mortals on their big ole booties… but all it ever does for me is…

Generate MORE ideas
swirling around in my melon!

So I have a dilemma, albeit a GOOD dilemma.

I simply don't know how to turn off the entrepreneurial/moneymaking thoughts.

And here I am AGAIN… in front of the computer composing this message for YOU… while the Colombiana stands behind me, hands on hips, waiting for me to go Christmas shopping.

Hey, don't get me wrong. I really like what I do.

I mean, when I say I "worked" a 17-hour day it doesn't even feel like work to me. It's more like 17 hours of excitement and new discoveries.

But let's be honest…

There comes a time when you simply HAVE to rest, relax, recharge your batteries… and truly get away from it.

Frankly, I've never done a very good job of that.

So I need to ask you for a favor.

If you have any tips, tricks or secrets to help an entrepreneur rest and relax… and get his mind away from constantly thinking about new ideas and projects… I'm all ears.

Please take a couple minutes and share them in the comments box below.

Even though my mind is racing with breakthrough ideas on my "day off"… and I could spend at least another 4 hours typing away… I'm off to fight the crowds and do some Christmas shopping.

When I get back, I can't wait to hear any ideas you have to help me relax and put the Doberman Dan "idea machine" in neutral for a few days.

I could really use the rest.

All the best,

P.S. If you've ever considered applying for membership in my Inner Circle… you better do it soon. On January 1st, the monthly membership is going to DOUBLE. Get in now and you'll be locked in for life at the lower price.

P.P.S. I honestly don't know if I'll be doing another post before Christmas. In case I don't, let me take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus… or whatever holiday you happen to celebrate.

Hey, here's an idea for ya:

Like my friend, Markus Allen says… why don't you treat yourself and your family well EVERY day… instead of using some holiday as an excuse to do it only once or twice a year.

I think that makes a lot more sense.

Dear Friend,

I'm not sure if you've ever mozied on over to my testimonials page (which I need to update)… but the very first testimonial is from none other than the "Prince of Print"… the late, great Gary Halbert.

He said…

“I lived with Dan for 43 days when he had an apartment in Costa Rica. He’s a good professional copywriter and he learned some things in Costa Rica that hardly any other copywriter knows about. He’s got my seal of approval.”

Actually Gary stayed at my place longer than 43 days. I know because after a while, I started counting them… but that's a story for a different time.

Notice that he didn't gush all over and say I was "one of the best copywriters in the world"… or because he mentored me, he expected me be "the best" one day.

Those close to him knew Halbert NEVER said stuff like that about anybody… except for Gary Bencivenga.

I'll be the first to admit, when it comes to copywriting, I'm definitely not one of the best in the world… nor do I want to be.

My friends David Deutsch and Carline Anglade Cole… and my new acquaintance I interviewed recently, Richard Armstrong… now those folks really ARE some of the best copywriters in the world.

They're the "Babe Ruths" of copywriting… writing copy for some of the biggest mailers in the world… in the most competitive markets.

It's really cut-throat. True old west, gunslinger vs. gunslinger.

It takes a very special person to work with the big mailers. I did it once… and never will again.

So I'll probably never be "the best copywriter in the world"… and I'm OK with that.

You see, I realized a long time ago you don't have to be the best copywriter in the world to make a LOT of money.

And really, the copy isn't the most important part of success in direct response.

In fact, you can make a boatload of money with less than world class copy. (I like to call it "half-assed" copy… but I'm crude.)

How do I know?

'Cuz I've done it.

When my back was against the wall… or I just got a crazy idea at 1:30 in the morning I wanted to test… I banged out some copy and put it out there.

And I got results.

Several times the results were ZERO sales and ZERO leads.

Other times the results were sales and money coming in so fast, I couldn't count it fast enough.

Both are results. I found out what I needed to find out.

That's why it frustrates me to see so many of my subscribers obsessing over details and wanting to get everything perfect before they put their copy or product out in the market.

You don't have to get it perfect,
you just have to get it GOING.

So my message today is quit obsessing about every tiny little detail. Just sit down and bang out your copy.

Do what Gary Halbert told John Carlton…

"Just sell the damn thing!"

Then run that puppy up the flag pole and see how many people salute it with their wallets.

Whatever happens, you're going to get results.

All the best,

P.S. I recently had a spot open up in my Gold Inner Circle.

I don't really promote it because it's not for most people.

But if you have an online, direct response or brick & mortar business… and would like to quickly ramp up your sales and profits… without the exorbitant costs of customer acquisition nowadays… you should probably check it out.

There are several crucial things MUCH more important than copy when selling online... or in any media. Discover them here.

Wednesday, 7:54 AM

Dear Friend,

I like reading quotes from successful people.

They inspire me.

You may have noticed I like using them at the beginning of my blog posts, too.

Here are a few memorable ones from some of my heroes:

"Motion beats meditation." – Gary Halbert

"Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly." – Zig Ziglar

"You don't have to get it perfect, you just have to get it going." – Gary Halbert

"I can write better than anybody who can write faster, and I can write faster than anybody who can write better." – A. J. Liebling (Although I first heard this from Gary Bencivenga.)

"Good artists copy. Great artists steal." – Picasso

"Money solves problems not having money creates." – John Carlton

"Success is a process, not an event." – Gary Halbert

"You’re either growing or you’re rotting." – Dan Kennedy

"There is no problem that can’t be solved with a world-class sales letter." – Gary Halbert

"Would you rather have the pain of regret or the pain of discipline?" – Ted Nicholas

“A gifted product is mightier than a gifted pen." – Gary Bencivenga

That's just a handful. I could go on all day.

All these guys will be remembered for these eloquent and inspiring quotes.

What am I most remembered for?

"Brilliant Copywriting Won't Sell A Turd!"

It just popped into my head during an interview with copywriter/marketer par excellente, Ben Settle.

I didn't give it much thought at the time… but for some reason, people seem to remember it.

I really wish I would have said something more eloquent.

I mean, Halbert is remembered for famous stuff like, "Motion beats meditation" and "Success is a process, not an event."

But me? I'm remembered for my turd quote.

And I can't seem to escape it.

In fact, I have this recurring nightmare…

I'm floating around in the ether, watching my own funeral.

All my friends and family are there… there's beautiful music being played by world class musicians… people are reminiscing about me and swapping "Doberman Dan" stories… some are crying, some are laughing…

And after they put me into the ground, a gravestone is carefully placed at the head of my final resting place.

On it, engraved in a beautiful script, are the words…

Here lies Daniel Charles Gallapoo aka Doberman Dan…
"Brilliant copywriting won't sell a turd."

I'm sure my family would be proud.

Anyhoo… the point I was so non-eloquently trying to make was that the copy is just a small part of the success of any project.

There are several other MUCH more important things you need to get right first.

And if you know these, you can make a LOT of money with even half-assed copy.

I know… because I have.

And still am in a couple different niches.

Could I make more money with better copy?

Yup!

And I will… in due time.

In the meantime, I simply followed the advice of my mentor…

"You don't have to get it perfect,
you just have to get it going."
- Gary Halbert

I got these projects GOING. That is the most important part.

Improving them is an ongoing process.

But before you can get anything going… you have to know a few simple "marketing secrets of the masters."

And that is EXACTLY what I'm going to reveal to you.

Here's the deal:

I’m going to start a brand new kitchen table business… and I'm gonna let you in on it.

By the way… what I call a "kitchen table business" is this…

A part-time business you can start on the cheap… either on your kitchen table or online… and you can make a nice side income with very little investment of your time.

An income that keeps coming in month after month… but only takes a couple hours a week to run.

And if you know how to do it, many of these projects can be turned into 6-figure or even 7-figure businesses.

Nowadays I usually start these projects online first and then take them offline for even more money.

Usually… but not always.

As a matter of fact, a recent project for a client was done for direct mail ONLY… and it's gonna make an absolute FORTUNE as soon as he starts rolling out.

Anyhoo… like I said, I'm starting a new kitchen table project soon in a brand new niche.

AND I’m going to do something I’ve never done before.

I’m going to…

Let You "Look Over My Shoulder" During The Entire Process…
So You can Discover All My Best Money-Making Secrets!

This is the stuff I've only shared with a HANDFUL of people in my inner circle.

I've never shared it in my blog… and probably never will.

I enjoy writing my blog.

It's my way of passing on many of the marketing secrets I've discovered from 16+ years in the wonderful world of mail order and direct response… and the secrets I learned working side by side with marketing legend, Gary Halbert.

But there's a LOT more insider information I can reveal that goes way beyond the scope of this free blog.

And to be quite frank, I have to be really careful with whom I share this knowledge.

It's much too powerful for me to let it get into the hands of some scumbag rip off artist.

See, this stuff is REALLY powerful.

I'm talking really high level persuasion secrets. (After all, that's all marketing really is… persuasion.)

And like any other power, it can be used for good or evil… and be equally powerful for either.

Not to mention, there are a lot of secrets I gleaned from Halbert… especially for high income earners… that I am simply unwilling to publish in a public forum.

My trusted contacts around the globe don't want their contact info posted online…

…And most important…

I don't want this most sensitive information indexed and archived by Google and open to various wolves in sheep's clothing and other low-life scumbags who make their living preying upon others.

So I've decided that the best way to reveal these insider secrets and sensitive information is to launch a premium service.

And to launch this new premium service, I'm going to let you look over my shoulder, step-by-step as I start my new business.

I won't hold anything back.

You'll discover my entire process for starting these "lifestyle" businesses.

If it brings in a ton of cash, you'll know every tiny detail of how I did it.

If it totally flops… you'll be right there with me… so we can BOTH learn from the experience and move on to something else that WILL work.

Other than my recent 8-week Kitchen Table Business coaching program, I've never gone this "deep" with anybody before and revealed all these inner circle secrets.

And month after month, I will continue to reveal my most effective success secrets amassed from years in the direct marketing trenches.

If you've never started a business in your life but dream of relaxed lifestyle only working a few hours a week…

…Or you already have a successful business and are looking to take it to the next level…

Then This is For YOU!

I SHOULD charge a hefty price for this… because it's worth it.

But I want to make it accessible to anybody who sincerely wants to discover the secrets to living the same "lazy man's way to riches" I've enjoyed since I declared my freedom from my J.O.B. (Journey Of the Broke) in 1997.

So it's NOT going to cost a fortune.

In fact, the monthly investment will be approximately HALF of what you'd spend a day on a Starbucks coffee.

Have I got your greed glands going yet?

Would you like to be "let in" on my best money-making "lazy lifestyle" secrets?

Here's what you need to do right NOW:

Dear Friend,
I'm still having fun and learning a lot with my YouTube 30-Day Challenge.
Today I finally figured out how to use a program called ScreenFlow. I've used it before but I only knew about 10% of its functions.
This thing is a POWERHOUSE for creating videos… especially if you need to demonstrate things on the computer.
And if a Luddite like me can figure out how to use it… ANYBODY can.
Enjoy the video!
All the best,

Tuesday, 6:33 AM

Dear Friend,

Last week I sent a message endorsing Ben Settle's new hard copy newsletter.

Since I know that negative news always gets more viewership than positive news, I split-tested two "negative" headlines on one of my subscriber lists.

They were…

Ben Settle SUCKS (By the way, it was Ben who suggested this.)

Why I HATE Ben Settle

Here's a screen shot from my Aweber account with the results:

Notice that the headline "Why I HATE Ben Settle" got a 37.2% open rate and a 18.8% click-through rate.

The headline "Ben Settle SUCKS" got a higher open rate, 44.6%… but a lower click-through rate, 12.8%.

I have no idea how many sales it brought in because the link in the e-mail was not an affiliate link. It just linked directly to Ben's newsletter site. (I believe so strongly in Ben's new newsletter I endorsed it without any compensation.)

Looking back, we SHOULD have used a tracking link from Ben's 1shoppingcart account so we could see how many new subscribers he got from this endorsement.

Oh well.

Anyhoo… would you like to know why one headline got a higher open rate but the other got a higher click-through rate?

So would I.

The truth is… I have no earthly idea.

We can guess why we THINK it got these results, pontificating for hours… but the truth is, we don't really know why. The only thing we know for sure is the results.

And why do we know the results?

Because I TESTED it.

You can theorize for days and try to rationalize why you think this or that headline is better… but in the end, you're just guessing.

The only way to know for sure is to run that puppy up the flagpole and see how many people salute it.

And it's so easy to test this stuff online nowadays there's no excuse for not doing it.

All the best,

P.S. If I were sending a direct mail pitch and had access to a list of customers or subscribers like this… this is EXACTLY what I would do to figure out the best headline for my direct mail piece.

If I didn't have access to a list I would do a headline split test on Google Adwords.

It's a lot cheaper and faster to split test your headlines this way than in direct mail.
