Sucks about the hospital – hope your Wife is doing better!
Dan, good one today. Keep it up man, I'm really enjoying the chats. You're right, empathy is SO strong and if you can connect your e-mail blasts with solid empathy it can do amazing things.
15 hours! Phewwee. Even bigger thanks than usual dood.
Hi Dan
Thanks for the video. Hope everthing goes well at the hospital, your in our thoughts.
Dan, Tony Robbins uses the "you're sad, get happy with my product" sales technique in all of his infomercials. Just watched one yesterday morning while having my cup of coffee. I believe it has made him very wealthy (-:
Dan
Wow – makes my bad days look like a walk in the park.
You are a hard man making your sick wife man the camera though!
More great tips, thanks Dan.
Dan,
You can create strong relationships through the use of empathy… and there is a template for it among actual customers. Think of the Famous Artist School… When a student presents a finished project for evaluation by the instructors, an in depth analysis is returned to the student.
The way they do it is there are only so many comments on the project that can be returned. Each comment is put into the form of an individual paragraph and the appropriate paragraphs are assembled by the instructor and combined to create a personalized and appropriate critique.
The same thing can be done with any situation.
The fact is, when a salesman is conversing with a prospect there are only so many objections the prospect can throw at the salesman… and if the salesman is prepared, he has the comeback in his hip pocket.
In the meantime, you indicated you had an emergency yesterday and I just wanted to wish you the best for a quick recovery…
All the best!

Great post about a topic that's (unfortunately) not discussed very often in marketing circles.
If we were all better at listening, there probably wouldn't be as much of a need for therapists and anti-depressants.
Anyway, your video made me remember that I've been wanting to write a blog post about listening for some time so I finally wrote it this morning:http://tinyurl.com/yk7xq2v Thank you for the inspiration.
Dan,
Hope y'all are doing better.
Was watching your vid on this post, and I got to thinking that this could be part of why knowing your target market, their language, their catch phrases, their wants and needs is so powerful and effective in marketing and copywriting. It makes the prospect feel (maybe on an unconscious level) that you've been listening to them. They feel understood. Maybe there is a bit of psychological relief as they read your sales letter that they are not alone. And, by the way, not only do I understand you and your situation, I have a solution for it, too.
Thanks for the youtube challenge. It's been some great stuff. Still praying for y'all.

Funny you bring up the empathy stuff and how strangers will just tell you the most personal things…..this happens to me all the time, in fact, I must ooze this stuff cuz whenever I go into the store I always have people ask me where stuff is like I work there or something. Maybe we can work on how to harness this stuff, like Napoleon Hills "Sex Transmutation" (often misunderstood) we can call it "Empathetic Transmutation"?? What we are talking about is the simple law of Vibrational Energy, thanks DD!!
I haven't heard about the hospital yet. Hope all is well.
It's always good to be gracious and being grateful for our customers or client should be a top priority. Being in the gift business makes me think about the pain and joys that other people feel. Especially, when I read the gift message.
My cousin recommended this blog and she was totally right keep up the fantastic work!
This is something that is happening today. People mostly talk through internet and in real life they don't know how to act anymore.
