An egotist is a self-made man who worships his creator.
– John Bright

Dear Friend,
I make my living as a copywriter/kitchen table entrepreneur but my first passion is the guitar.
To be totally honest, I'd rather play the guitar for a living… but I've developed the bad habit of sleeping indoors and eating.
As soon as I can break that habit, I'm going to drop this copywriting thing and just play guitar for a living.
I think people with big egos must be attracted to both copywriting and playing the guitar.
I've noticed this about …

"The highest compact we can make with our fellow is,
'Let there be truth between us two forever more.'"
–Ralph Waldo Emerson
Dear Friend,
I've got a couple BMWs I've been thinking about selling.
For a couple reasons.
Don't get me wrong. They're great cars.
Too much maintenance for me.
And they're perceived as "rich guy" cars. (Frankly, I don't want that kind of attention.)
So I've been thinking about selling them for a while now. I just haven't been motivated enough to stick a "for sale" sign on 'em or place a classified ad.
Naturally, my ears perked …

Dear Friend,
I admit it.
I blatantly ripped off that headline from a famous promotion written by Jim Rutz.
It really is a matter of life and death and I needed a way to get your undivided attention.
Allow me to share something very personal with you today.
I've struggled with bouts of feeling really down in the dumps since I've been a kid.
I never labeled it "depression" or sought medical attention because I was always able to keep functioning. Most people never knew I struggled with this. I could always put on …

Dear Friend,
It's almost cliché.
Everywhere you turn you hear about how easy it is to start an online business that runs on "auto pilot".
That's right… you hardly have to do ANYTHING. Just sit back and watch the money roll in 24 hours a day.
You can live anywhere you want and travel for months on end… and when you come home your business is still humming along making big fungolas 24 hours a day.
You only have to put in a couple hours a month overseeing a few things. All the …

"People are cheap bastards on the Internet."
- Gary Halbert
Dear Friend,
In 2005, I was on the panel at Gary Halbert's "Root Canal" seminar in Orlando, FL along with another Halbert mentee, Caleb O'Dowd.
Everybody was asking about the differences between selling online and offline. Gary summed it up in his own unique way with the quote above.
Giving away free stuff has become a popular technique for getting traffic and selling online.
And it seems to have "thrown gasoline on the fire" of an entire generation who is already hamstrung by their huge …

Dear Friend,
I've been keeping a secret from you.
I have a very exclusive "Inner Circle" I've never told you about.
I've only offered membership to a handful of special folks.
The reason I've never told you about it is because I've had to restrict membership to just a few people due to time constraints.
But recently I've been able to rearrange some of my commitments to free up some time. So…
I'm going to accept a few more members into my exclusive Inner Circle…
Don't get your hopes up quite yet.
I'm only making a handful of …

Dear Friend,
I could really use your feedback.
I have fun writing the articles here on DobermanDan.com… but mostly I've been writing about whatever tickles my fancy.
So I got to thinking…
I wonder what YOU would like me write about.
Would you be so kind to take a couple minutes and tell me in the comment box below what topics for articles or videos/audios you'd like to see me produce.
Thanks! I really appreciate it.
Al the best,
